This 2-day course is conducted by American Canoe Association
certified instructors. You'll learn how to get your boat to go
where you want it and basic rescue techniques. Learn about "reading
the river", different types of boats, gear and safety equipment
and procedures. If you plan to kayak with any regularity, this
course is for you! |

Flatwater
River Rescue I
(for canoes) |
This course is designed for people who will be leading groups
of other paddles. The course is somewhat demanding, but worth
the effort. Successful completion of Introduction to Canoeing
is recommended. After mornings in the classroom, you will participate
in simulated rescue scenarios on the river. Learn how to safely
rescue a person whose boat has capsized and how to retrieve their
boat. You will also become a swimmer and learn how to rescue
yourself and others. |

Flatwater
River Rescue II
(for canoes) |
Designed for people who will be leading groups of other paddlers,
this course primarily deals with medical emergencies that might
occur on the water. If you are on the river, how do you attend
to a victim with a broken arm, one who has a heart attack, or
a panicking swimmer? You will actually participate in simulated
emergency scenarios. This course is somewhat demanding. |
