Equipment: All essential equipment (canoes, kayaks, paddles & life vests) will be provided by the sponsors. (No discount for personal canoes/kayaks.)
Canoe Capacity: Canoes are limited to a maximum of three adults, or two adults & two children (age 4 - 12). These capacities may not be exceeded.
Age Requirements: Each canoe must include at least one person age 18 or older. All paddlers should be at least 13 years old. Children ages 4 - 12 must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or guardian. Kayaks are limited to one person 18 years or older per boat. Age restrictions on paddling workshops are the same as for river trips.
Registration and Fees:Fees below apply to registrations received prior to June 6, 2008. Late registration/walk ups add $7 per person, all ages. Trips with meals included MUST be pre-registered.
T-Shirts: Edisto Riverfest T-shirts highlighting the 75th anniversary of the S.C. State Park Service can be ordered in advance for $10 each.
Check-In:All persons registered for a workshop or river trip are required to report to the check-in station at Colleton State Park at least 1/2 hour prior to trip departure time. This station will be open Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Those registering the day of the event will do so at the check-in station and should register 1 hour prior to departure to assure availability. Overnight check-in as at Givhans Ferry State Park, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Location: Colleton State Park is on the Edisto River, near the intersection of US 15 & SC 61 (Exit 68 off I-95). Givhans Ferry State Park is also on the Edisto River, about 20 minutes by car from Colleton State Park.
Accommodations:Colleton State Park and Givhans Ferry State Park feature 25 campsites each for tents and recreational vehicles. All sites have water and electrical hookups and are situated near heated restrooms and shower facilities. Those participating in the June 7 & 8 Overnight Trip will be accommodated in a group area at Givhans Ferry; those who prefer an individual site that weekend must make their reservation through the standard system and pay the standard rate. Camping is available by reservation by calling toll-free at 1-866-345-7275 or on-line at www.SouthCarolinaParks.com. Several motels are within a 20-minute drive of Colleton State Park in Walterboro.
Pets: Animals are strictly forbidden on paddling trips & in workshops.

Overnight Canoe Trip: This overnight river camping experience will take place one week prior to Riverfest on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 & 3. The evening meal on Saturday will be provided by the sponsors & will take place at the ERCK canoe shelter at Colleton State Park.
Hwy. 21 to GP Landing: 15 miles / 7.5 hours. Canoe\Kayak trip: This serene part of the Edisto features limestone bluffs, rock marl bars & timberland. Bring your lunch.
GP Landing to Colleton State Park: 9.5 miles / 3.5 hours. Canoe trip: This remote stretch of the river features oxbow lakes & numerous sand bars, where tracks of wild turkey and other small wildlife are often found.
Stokes Bridge to Mas Old Field: 7 miles / 3.3 hours. Kayak trip: Diversity characterizes this relatively undeveloped stretch of the Edisto as it meanders through woodlands and high bluffs featuring abundant wildlife.
Shuttle Only Trips: Bring your own canoe or kayak & we'll provide shuttle to a pre-selected area so that you can enjoy the pristine beauty and quiet of the Edisto River.
Springtown to Colleton State Park: 7 miles / 3.3 hours. Canoe\Kayak trip: Come join us for this mid-day trip down the beautiful Edisto River. Lunch will be catered on one of the sandbars...the best seats in town!
Mas Old Field to Givhans Ferry State Park: 7.5 miles / 3 hours (kayak). After flowing through cypress swamps, the river opens into broad clear stretches & passes Four Hole swamp. Beautiful limestone bluffs welcome you to the park.
Colleton State Park to Stokes Bridge: 9 miles / 3.5 hours. The river runs fairly straight for a while and begins to meander again. This stretch will carry you past Cane Island, once inhabited by wild goats.
Paddling Workshops: Canoeing & Kayaking workshops will provide inexperienced paddlers the opportunity to learn basic paddling techniques that will make their river trips even more rewarding.
